ELECTRICAL TRADE

This training will lead to Artisan Electrical Trade it can be completed in three career path

APPRENTICESHIP

• The first is an apprenticeship where the Apprentice will complete theoretical modules simultaneously with Workshop modules for the first six month of the training phase.
• The next phase is where the Apprentice will be placed in a work for at least 12 month during this time they will complete a log-book of workplace based tasks.
• the Apprentice will have to complete advanced electrical training before being done pre-trade test training
• Final step is the trade-taste where if successfully completed the Apprentice become An Artisan

RPL

The second Career paths is where a person who has experience in the trade obtains an N2 trade Certificate an apply to be Pre-trade test and straight to trade test.

Electronics and Refrigeration

• Air conditioning is the process of removing heat from a confined space, thus cooling the air, and removing humidity. Air conditioning can be used in both domestic and commercial environments. This process is used to achieve a more comfortable interior environment, typically for humans or animals; however, air conditioning is also used to cool/dehumidify rooms filled with heat-producing electronic devices, such as computer servers, power amplifiers, and even to display and store artwork.

• A course designed with the student in mind that wishes to obtain a better understanding and working knowledge of ELECTRONICS and CIRCUIT DESIGN. Involves repair and fault finding down to component level.3 week course with emphasis on practical hands on experience, thus equipping the student to fault find/repair electronic circuit boards, and replace and upgrade circuitry all down to component level. Students interested would be TV/AUDIO VISUAL technicians, alarm installers/repair personnel, and any person interested in radio/telecommunications.

This course offers the student an understanding of PLANT and PROCESS Automation and process CONTROL. The calibration and adherence to standards of the various instrumentation processes. Together with the necessary adherence certification and documentation required. The compiling and understanding/reading plant process and layout documentation/diagrams. The implementation, repair, calibration and fabrication of plant and process control, with specific emphasis placed on the various forms of control and fault finding/maintenance there on. Inter trade disciplines, and the interactions with them in a plant environment, together with Plant safety and Procedures.

Programmable Logic Control Hands on upgrading of existing plant systems to PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLERS. The various process documentation and ladder logic design to input to Brand Name PLC software. Maintenance, fault finding, calibration and REPAIR of such PLC systems, inclusive of SCADA,(supervisory control and data acquisition), wireless systems, and HMI, (human machine interface), implementation and integration. This course is of special interest to Plant Electricians, Instrument Technicians, Waste Water plant staff and plant engineers. Others would be Lift/elevator technicians, municipal road traffic electricians and robotic specialists. The advantage of this type of course is that it is NOT brand specific, but offers a generic ladder logic formulation that can then be placed on the brand name software for coding.
